This morning was quite an adventure for Nivonim. We woke up early and rode the subway to Rockefeller Center to see the filming of the Today Show. While I am sure that the news was important, that is not why we were there. We were there to see Maroon 5 in concert! As lead singer Adam Levine was warming up his voice, the ruach/spirit within the edah was sky rocketing!
We were lucky enough to be right behind the stage and the show was amazing! New York definitely knew that Nivonim 2011 was around as the hanichim/campers spontaneously started our edah cheer right after the show. I could not have been more proud.
After the show (and several failed attempts to see Adam Levine) we took the subway to The Jewish Museum. As it was still rather early, this is when we held shacharit/morning prayers. It was a new experience to pray outside on the streets of New York and many hanichim were smiling at this new opportunity. After teffilot/services it was time to go inside and start the tour.
The tour gave us a wonderful opportunity to discuss our identities as related to the art and artifacts in the museum. There was so much to soak in, we could’ve easily spent hours just walking around the galleries. But, in order to get back to Camp for Shabbat we had to get on the bus right after the tour.
Sadly, our time in New York is over. But as we are riding the bus back to Palmer, we are really quite excited. We are excited to be coming back to Camp. We are excited to be coming back to the k’far. We are excited to be coming home.

Shabbat Shalom.
