Program Spotlight – Sports!

Wow, the first session is almost over.  It seems like yesterday when the eager faces of the campers were looking up with anticipation to find out what sports would be available this summer.  We did in fact have some changes this summer.  Among the usual offerings of basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball and softball, this summer we added ultimate frisbee during the first session, and we will be offering flag football during the second session.  We also included a revamped and expanded archery program which has been a huge success.  For peulot tzrif (bunk activities) we offered Pillow Polo which is a combination of soccer and hockey and the campers played some really intense but fun games.  All our changes were met with a great response.  Every sport chug (elective) was filled to capacity and our energetic sports staff handled it effortlessly!

Currently, we are gearing up for our Junior Varsity Yom Berkshires!  This is a full day of sports played against Camp Ramah in the Berkshires.  Tomorrow, our Magshimim and Bogrim campers will travel to Ramah Berkshires participate.  Next session, Ramah Berkshires will come to Palmer to play our Magshimim, Bogrim, Machon, and Nivonim campers.  These two days rank amongst the highlights of Tzad Bet.  Our JV squad looks quite good and they are ready for the games to begin.  Stay tuned for scores and highlights.  Varsity is training hard for their games next month.  All the campers and coaches have been working hard and we expect a great showing by Palmer.
