We managed to (mostly) dodge the rain as our Second Session kicked off in grand style today! New and returning campers were greeted by excited counselors and full-summer campers eager to see familiar faces and to meet new friends.  We had a fun outdoor carnival on the tzad aleph lower migrash (field), where campers could sing, dance, make (and eat!) delicious candy sushi, cook pita on a camp-fire, create omanut (arts & crafts) projects, and more.

During the afternoon campers enjoyed peulot tzrif (bunk activities) and new arrivals were able to take their swim tests.  We had an extraordinarily festive first dinner for A-Side and B-Side, which was followed by a raucous shira (song) session lead my our wonderful tzevet shira (music/band staff).

The only down-side of the day?  As mentioned in an earlier post, we're experiencing our first major internet outage of the summer.  The internet has been down for the past 24 hours.  We're hoping the problem will be repaired tomorrow.  I am writing this blog from the one computer at camp that we have managed to connect to the world-wide-web (using a private system as opposed to the camp system).  In addition to this blog, we've been able to post two large galleries of photos from the first day of the second session.  They're up in the photo-galleries section of our web-site (www.www.campramahne.org) so check 'em out!  We have LOTS more photos from today to post, which we will get on-line as soon as we possibly can.  Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
