Amitzim: Boker Tzrif, Zoo Trip, & Tikvah Gala!

As we approach the final week of this summer, Amitzim is knee-deep in special activities.  Friday morning we participated in the famed camp-wide Boker Tzrif (bunk morning).  Each tzrif (bunk) chose a couple super fun activities with specialists in camp, and also made a bunk plaque to be displayed in their tzrif.  The activities included challah baking, face painting, cookie decorating, ice cream making, shabbat-o-gram making, Krav Maga, and much more.

After a wonderful shabbat, we spent Sunday on a trip to the zoo in Forest Park!  We spent a couple hours exploring the zoo itself, learning about the many animals we saw, and even petting some of them.  We gathered for lunch in a shady patch of a beautiful garden, and then took some time for menucha (rest).  Once we got back on our feet we had the exciting opportunity to ride on a train!  The ride took us all around the many fields that surround the zoo, and we learned about some of the park’s history.  To finish our trip, some of us watched a baseball game that was going on, while the rest of us played in the water park!  We ran through the sprinklers there over and over, laughing with our friends the whole time.

The fun didn’t end at the zoo, though.  We came back to camp for our very own Tikvah Gala, where we ate an elegant barbecue dinner and had an awesome dance party.  Everyone dressed up quite nicely for the exciting night, and took many pictures.  What a memorable day we’ve had!
