Shalom, Chaverim,

It is with great excitement that we introduce our new Tikvah Director, Dr. Bonnie Schwartz. Bonnie comes to us with a rich background in camp and in clinical work. She attended Camp Ramah in the Berkshires as a child, worked at Summit Camp, directed Camp Altitude and helped the 14th Street Y to develop its day camp inclusion program. Bonnie holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and works at the NYU Child Study Center. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with learning, developmental and emotional differences and their families and possesses expertise in the area of autism spectrum disorders. Bonnie combines incredible professional skills with a deep understanding of and love for children. She is an excellent listener and problem solver and will be a true asset to our program.

During this current off-season, Bonnie will work closely with outgoing Tikvah Director Howard Blas to plan for kayitz 2016. Bonnie will begin immediately to get to know our current Tikvah families and familiarize herself with our program and our recruitment/intake processes.  Bonnie can be reached at BonnieS@campramahne.org. We are so blessed to have Howard working with us through this transition time and serving as the National Director of the Ramah Tikvah Network.

Bonnie, like Howard before her, will be based in New York City and will spend her summers in Palmer, MA. She is joined on our year-round team by Elisheva Layman, who will be focusing on our Amitzim program. Tali Cohen, who has been focusing on our vocational programs, will be taking a hiatus during this off-season to focus on her graduate studies.

Please join me in wishing Bonnie the best of luck in her new position.  We look forward to our Tikvah Program continuing to thrive and grow under her leadership.

Kol tuv,

Rabbi Ed Gelb
