Bat Mitzvah in Magshimim
With all the activity that comes with the end of first session and the beginning of second session, I neglected to write about a very special event in Edat Ha-Magshimim. Last Thursday, July 16, Ruby H. (bunk 50) became a bat mitzvah. The whole edah was thrilled to be part of the occasion. We all dressed up and joined together for services, led by some of Ruby’s friends and family members. Her family generously provided a bagel brunch for us after services.
That evening, after carnival and banquet, the edah threw a party. As a testament to the level of friendship in Magshimim, some of Ruby’s friends planned the party for her. A few spent a few weeks making her a plaque in Nagarut. Another wrote a poem, and still another made a “Mazal Tov Ruby” banner. A fun time was had by all, and it was a beautiful way to celebrate this momentous event.
