Chanichim (campers) inaugurate the new chadar ochel on Kayitz 2017 day 1

We have had an extremely busy first day of camp.  The gates opened at 11:00 and by 12:30 almost all of the chanichim (campers) who had traveled by car were settled and engaged in activities. The airplane travelers arrived about an hour later and so by our 2:00 pm lunch, we had a full and very happy camp.  Everyone was ready to sit down and enjoy their first meal (pizza bagels and salad) in this beautiful new space, and we concluded with a robust Birkat Hamazon.

Chanichim were heard exclaiming as they walked in: “Wow! look how big it is!”; “This is amazing!”; “It’s awesome!”; and “it is so cool.” This last comment may have been referring to the fact that the new chadar has air conditioning and so it is always a comfortable temperature inside no matter what the weather.

We all look forward to using this space for many years to come.
