Day 1 of Kayitz 2014!

It was a gloriously beautiful day here in Palmer Massachusetts as we opened our gates and welcomed over 500 campers and their parents/families to camp!

The day kicked off with an awesome opening carnival this morning.  We had large bouncies, pita-making, omanut projects, cotton candy, and all sorts of fun.  Then, breaking with a long-standing tradition of a dairy buffet lunch, our campers and families enjoyed an outdoor BBQ lunch grilled up by our amazing mitbach (kitchen) staff-members!  After saying goodbye to their parents, our hanichim (campers) split into their tzrifim (bunks) for an afternoon of fun peulot tzrif (bunk programming). By 2:00, kids were already in the agam, bunk photos were being taken (which will be posted on our web-site tonight and tomorrow morning), and great fun was being had all over camp.

Our first aruchat erev (dinner) in our hadar ochel (dining hall) was a Hawaiian luau-themed meal.  Our hanhallah (Senior staff) and kitchen staff dressed in their finest Hawaiian attire and presented every hanich (camper) with a colorful lei to wear as they walked into the hadar ochel.  After a yummy Hawaiian chicken-and-rice meal, our tzevet shira (music staff) led the hanichim in a raucous shira session.

By now, “Rad Hayom” has been heard all around camp and an amazing day 1 of kayitz 2014 has drawn to a close. Campers and staff are all ready for day 2!!

For current parents/families, we have many photos already posted in the (password-protected) photo gallery section of our web-site: http://campramahne.phanfare.com/2014/ Today’s bunk photos will all be posted later tonight and tomorrow morning.  Please continue to check this blog, our photo galleries, and our facebook page for regular daily updates.

Todah Rabbah to all of the Ramah horim (parents) for entrusting us with your children for the summer!  Layla tov.
