Hanhallah 2018!

We are excited to announce our 2018 Hanhallah (Senior Staff)!

Rosh Kochavim (first session: Kochavim Aleph and Kochavim Bet) Marcia Glickman — Hi! I am so excited to be Rosh Kochavim for the first machzor (session) of kayitz (summer) 2018! This will be my sixteenth kayitz at Machane (Camp) Ramah. In the past, I have been Rosh Gan, Rosh Mumchim (Head of Specialists), Rosh Tarbut Yisraelit (Head of our Experiential Israel Education Program), Rosh Drama, Voc Ed Advisor and Communications Director.  My family started coming to camp when our oldest daughter Hannah was in Ilanot and our three younger children were in Gan. This kayitz our youngest son will be on tzevet (staff) for the first time and two of his older sisters will be working at camp as well.  Machene Ramah is the most magical place in the world and I can’t wait to give Kochavim their first taste!

Rosh Kochavim (second session: Kochavim Gimel and Kochavim Daled) Elad Dorenbust — Hi! My name is Elad Dorenbust and I’m really excited to be your Rosh Edah! I’m a third year electrical engineering student in Israel and this kayitz (summer)will be my fourth kayitz at camp. I have been a madrich (counselor) in Kochavim, Ilanot and Solelim, and Rosh Adat Ha-Solelim! Most of the time you will find me traveling around the world or on a basketball court or just fixing a friend’s computer. I’ve missed the mesmerizing agam (lake) and the Havdalah we do at camp. I’m SO excited to come back to camp and to meet you all 🙂  See you there !

Rosh Ilanot Andy Weissfeld — Hello there! My name is Andy Weissfeld and I am very excited to serve as your Rosh Edah! This is my third summer on Hanhallah (senior staff) at Camp Ramah New England and my second summer as Rosh Ilanot. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA and currently live in Bethesda, MD. I graduated from the University of Maryland last year and just finished a year of learning and working as the Ner Tamid Fellow at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase, MD.  This fall, I will start Rabbinical school at the Jewish Theological Seminary. I enjoy biking, watching baseball, and I am an avid Star Wars fan.

Rosh Solelim Ianne Sherry — Hi! My name is Ianne Sherry and I am so excited to be Rosh Solelim this kayitz (summer)!  I am a rising senior at Brandeis University studying Education and Economics.  This semester I am studying at Hebrew University as a Nachshon Project fellow.  This will be my eleventh summer at Ramah Palmer and I can’t wait to start kayitz 2018!

Rosh Shoafim Emma Neusner — Shalom Shoafim! I am so excited to be your Rosh Edah this kayitz! This will be my fourteenth summer at camp, and I was Rosh Kochavim last summer. I am from Chevy Chase, Maryland and just graduated from Virginia Tech (go hokies!), where I majored in psychology. Next year, I will work full time with Camp Ramah in New England as the staff hiring and programming coordinator. I love coffee and dancing, and I’m so excited to have a great kayitz with you all!!

Rosh Amitzim Adina Golob — Hey Hey Amitzim 2018! I am SO excited to return to the machane (camp) for my sixteenth kayitz (summer), my third as Rosh Amitzim. I spent 8 summers as a chanica (camper) before going on Ramah Seminar in Israel in 2011. Before I worked in Tikvah, I was a madricha (counselor) for Shoafim and Kochavim. I spent two summers as an Amitzim madricha before my first summer as a Rosh in 2016. During the year, I am a teacher at The IDEAL School of Manhattan. The IDEAL School is a full inclusion school with a social justice focus. I spent the year teaching fourth graders of all abilities but focused on working 1-to-1 with a student with Down Syndrome. I fill my time with walking in Central Park, hanging out with friends, cooking and teaching Hebrew school at Park Avenue Synagogue.  I can’t wait to swim in the agam (lake) and celebrate Shabbat altogether this kayitz. Get excited for kayitz 2018!!

Rosh Magshimim Matan Weisbrot — Shalom Magshimim! My name is Matan Weisbrot. I am a 3D character animator from the small city of Hod-Hasharon, Israel. My journey from the Israeli summer heat to the misty mornings of New England started in the kayitz (summer) of 2015 when I first came to work at Machane Ramah in New England. Looking back at the three amazing summers I’ve spent at camp so far, I have had the pleasure of both teaching film and video to chanichim (campers) from across the edot as a Madrich Miktzoi’i (specialist), as well as working as a Madrich Hevrati (general counselor) for both Shoafim & Bogrim. Ramah Palmer has now become my second home, and the kehilla (community), my family. I am deeply honored to be the Rosh of this amazing Edah and am looking forward to a great kayitz of fun and hagshama (fulfillment)! Kol Tuv VeLehitraot BePalmer! כל טוב ולהתראות בפאלמר

Rosh Bogrim Emily Farbman — Shalom Bogrim! I am so excited to return as a Rosh Edah this kayitz (summer) for my fourteenth year at Ramah!! I just graduated from Brandeis University with majors in Biology and Neuroscience (brains!), and I’m applying to medical school. When I’m not studying, I enjoy running, baking, drinking iced-coffee, and, of course, talking with my camp friends! Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE camp, and I cannot wait to get back to Palmer to create a remarkable kayitz together!!

Rosh Machon Maddie Gelfand — Hello!! My name is Maddie Gelfand and I’m so happy to be your Rosh Edah!! I just graduated from Penn Engineering with a degree in computer science (and major psychology as a bonus!), but my favorite thing about Penn was the Jewish community and Hillel. What’s next for me — Machene Ramah b’ New England, of course! I’m excited to share my love for peulot erev, challah, rikud, and Bitmoji with you all! Get stoked for the greatest kayitz of all time — woo 20-chai! I’m counting down the days! Lehitraot b’Palmer!
