Ilanot and Kochavim: The Night of Scary Stories

Ilanot and Kochavim chanichim (campers) were treated to the Drama chug play, “The Night of Scary Stories” (photo above and below).  The Drama Chug is led by Rosh Drama Inbal Caplan (photo below), a Jerusalem native.  She teaches drama at a High School in Maaleh Adumim, and acts, primarily in musicals, all around Israel.   Her most recent shows: Avenue Q, Cats, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Back here at Palmer, our actors from Kochavim and Ilanot wrote an original script, rehearsed and performed (photo, top and below) the play for the entire Kochavim and Ilanot community to great accolades and applause.  Throughout this process, their creative juices flowed in a fun and collaborative way.  Here is a brief synopsis of this original drama: Around the campfire, eating marshmallow, we love telling ghost stories. The first story was about a bunch of kids “checking out” a haunted house. In the haunted house two of them are murdered by a covered figure. Two of their friends call the police, eventually to discover the murderer is their nasty math teacher!! Back at the fire place the kids want to hear more stories. The second story is about a girl who was murdered while in second grade back in the 20’s. She has been stuck in the girls bathrooms mirror and wants to be freed. To be freed she has to be replaced. She tricks a girl into switching with her and haunts the cool girls of the school.
