Kayitz 2012 Has Begun!

With great excitement this morning at 10 AM the gates of camp opened and hundreds of excited campers and families blazed into camp.  At last, after ten months of thinking and dreaming about camp, and our last several weeks of intense preparations with our tzevet (staff), our Ramah community lives again.  We are thrilled to have 498 campers with us for the first session!

After unpacking and settling in, campers and their madrichim & madrichot (counselors) headed to our opening carnival where the kids jumped around in huge inflatable bouncies, baked pita with our teva (nature) staff, created omanut (art) projects, enjoyed snow cones & cotton candy, and sang and danced with our shira and rikud (music and dance) staff.  Counselors ran peulot tzrif (bunk activities) to help old friends reunite and new members of our Ramah family meet lots of great new friends.  In just a moment Tzad Aleph (A-side) campers will head to our chadar ochel (dining hall) for the first meal of the summer!  This will be followed by a raucous shira session and peulot erev (fun evening activities).  Our first photos will go up on our web-site later tonight!
