Kicking Off Second Session with Machon!

Machon had an incredible end to our first session. In our last week, we went on Etgar, splitting into groups for 3 days/2 nights of either backpacking, canoeing, biking, rafting, kayaking/hiking/rockclimbing, or caving/rockclimbing/rappelling. Campers and staff got off the buses and greeted each other with such joy, it was as if we hadn’t seen each other in three months, rather than three days. The experience brought the edah a feeling of togetherness that has not been diminished, even with beginning a new session.

Yesterday, we were joined by 24 new campers, yet I already feel as if they have been with us for the entire summer! Everyone has been adjusting beautifully, and I have already seen new and old friends sitting together and getting to know each other better.

Yesterday, Machon boys and girls each had separate programming, and in the evening we came together as an edah to do team-building activities and to discuss together what it means to be in Machon. The end result were the letters of “Machon 2012” filled in with their hopes and expectations for the summer. We are all so excited to see what this session brings us!

Machon 2012!

Today, Machon campers and counselors will have their first “yom ragil” (normal day) of the session, and will enjoy together all of the activities that we offer during the day.
