Meah Milim Winners Plus a Sweet Torah Treat!

Friday mornings are an exciting time in camp! Following Aruchat Boker (breakfast) this morning Chanichim (campers) who were nominated by their peers and supervisors to receive Meah Milim string backpacks this kayitz (summer) were called up in the Chadar Ochel (dining hall) an awarded their prize!!  Every Yom Shishi (Friday), after Aruchat Boker, we award string backpacks to those Ramahniks who have been chosen as doing a great job using Ivrit during the day, especially Milim (words) from our Meah Milim list — the list of the 100 words we only want to hear in Ivrit at camp. At Machaneh Ramah Hebrew language is an integral part of the everyday camp experience. The Kayitz is filled with so many amazing opportunities for our Chanichim to learn new things and Meah Milim is just another part of those wonderful opportunities.

This week we had a special addition to the Yom Shishi Aruchat Boker experiece where every chanich that read from the Torah received a special treat at both Tzad Aleph (A side) and Tzad Bet (B side) Aruchat Boker. The Torah is sweet and so are the treats that were awarded to these amazing chanichim!

Hannah Weissman and Sarah Monderer of our current and former Tzevet (staff), wrote Shir Me’ah Milim, set to the tune of Sweet Dreams.  The entire Tzad Aleph was singing and chanting in favor of Meah Milim…see the words, and set them to the tune — both below.  This song explosion happened right before the Meah Milim contest winners were announced for this week.  Yasher Koach! Get in the groove!
