Nivonim leadership training starts strong

After a very busy first day, including rehearsal for the Miriam rikud (dance) and very impressive auditions for the machazemer (musical), Nivonim woke up early on this beautiful, sunny, and chilly morning to put their endurance to the test as they leave camp for a three day etgar (adventure challenge).

Armed with words of wisdom from Rabbi Gordon Tucker’s dvar tefilah, they packed up their gear and headed out to climb New Hamshire’s Mount Monadnock, elevation 3,166 feet. Tomorrow they will test their teamwork skills, as they go white water rafting on the Deerfield River.  On Friday, Nivonim will hike Mohawk Trail State Forest in Charlemont, MA before returning to camp in time for Shabbat.

On their etgar they will learn about leadership, perseverance, resilience, and friendship, returning on Friday afternoon ready to assume their role as leaders and role models for the rest of the chanichim.
