Parsha Tetzaveh Discussion Questions

As we read from the Book of Shmot, every week we will be posting discussion questions that we hope families will use to discuss the Torah portion over Shabbat.

This week’s discussion questions were developed by this past summer’s Machon campers, when they were in Shoafim.   We encourage you to post any of your family’s answers to the questions in the comments section below.

Parsha Tetzaveh Discussion Questions

Developed by Arielle Grossman, Jacob Schaffer, Dani Davidoff, and Katherine Lerner

  • Why do you think the priests wear nicer clothes than the rest of society?
  • Why do you think Aaron and his sons were allowed to become Kohanim and not Moshe and his sons?  What made Aaron and his sons qualified to become Kohanim?
  • What do you think is the purpose of the priests?  Why did the Israelite society, all of a sudden, need priests?
  • Throughout the parsha God gives many instructions and speaks to Moshe very frequently.  If Aaron is the Kohen Gadol and so powerful, why doesn’t God speak to him directly as well?
  • What do you think the significance is of God’s command for the animals to be unblemished?  Why would God request to have only unblemished animals?
