Shabbat Zmirot on Shabbat Nahamu: Eishet Chayil, Nahamu & HaMalach HoGoel

There is something (many somethings) to be said for being with us here at Palmer for Shabbat.  But for many here, if they had to pick their favorite 15 minutes out of those precious 25 hours, those might likely be the singing of Eishet Hayil in several voices on Friday night, tune here:

The singing of Nahamu on the Friday night of Shabbat Nahamu, starting this evening is also spectacular; listen to the tune here:

And the singing of HaMalach HaGoel Oti (words below), is usually the penultimate song out of 8 songs prior to Birkat Hamazon at Seuda Shlishit on Shabbat afternoon.  Envision large square tables.  Around each table are the chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff) of each tzrif (bunk).  Standing on long benches are the Nivonimers, leading the Zemirot and Birkat HaMazon with vim and vigor.  Those around each table link arms and sway gently from side to side.  The adult tzevet belts out this one even louder than the chanichim, as we pray for the safety of all those in our care.  The sight and the voices are mesmerizing.  It is impossible to not sing and sway along.  Even first-time visitors are swept up in the moment. This is not a spectator sport. Shabbat Shalom!
