Shechunah Shel Ramah Meet Gila Ben David Tzevet Limmud (Judaic Teaching Staff)

I sat down with tzevet limmud (jewish studies staff) member Gila Ben David, and I got to learn all about Gila, what she does here in camp and about her life outside of machaneh ramah. Here were the top ten questions we asked Gila~

1- What is your job/position at Machaneh Ramah?

I am a teacher in the Limud program

2- What brought you to Machaneh Ramah/or how did you come to work here?

A friend came here with her children and thought that I would really enjoy coming to work at Machaneh Ramah.

3- What is your favorite part about your job?

Meeting the campers, getting to know them, teaching about new and interesting ideas and being able to have meaningful discussions with them.

4- How many years have you worked at Machaneh Ramah?

This is my third year on Tzveet Limmud!

5- Did you attend Ramah as a camper?

Sadly no but now my daughter does and she loves it!

6- What is your favorite part about being at Ramah?

I love meeting new campers and people. I have a passion for creating and implementing educational curriculum and being able to teach in creative and new ways.

7- Where are you from, where do you live now, and what do you do when you are not at camp?

I’m from Israel and currently live in Petach Tikva. When I am not at camp I teach English through theater.

8- Do you have any specific hobbies are special interests (please share this is an interesting part of getting to know you)? I have learned to dance “Biodanza”, I love to drum and run long distances. I am very excited because this coming winter I am going to be running my first marathon!

9- Where did you attend school and what did you study?

I graduated from Mikve Israel, one of the oldest Israeli agricultural schools and I specialized in beekeeping.

10- Tell us something interesting about yourself and something about yourself that you want others to know about you?

I have been a vegetarian since the age of 12. Despite being a shy person, I really like meeting new people and making new friends
