Shoafim “It’s a Good Life” Chug!

The “It’s a Good Life” Chug is in full swing for adat ha-Shoafim!  The “Good Life” chug is a special tradition, going back two decades, that we only offer each year to adat ha-Shoafim!!

To get into the chug, Shoafimers must write a twenty-two-and-a-half word essay on a creative canvas of their choice — paper is not allowed — about why they are silly and fun-loving enough to be allowed entrance into the chug.  As always, the silliness and creativity of our Shoafimers was fantastic!  Emma (Rosh Shoafim) and I received a lot of very creative, very funny entries.  (One entry was written backwards, requiring a mirror for us to read it!)

Pictured here is our first gathering, from last week, and a blue-drink toast.  (Blue drink is the favorite drink of Good Lifers, because it is silly!)  On Friday we had a fun t-shirt trivia contest, in which I displayed about a hundred camp tshirts from the past several decades, and I asked the kids questions whose answers were found hidden on one of the shirts.  The winning kvutza (group) received memorabilia from the archives — collapsible frisbees left over from our 50th anniversary “yovel” celebration back in 2003!

We have lots more fun events scheduled for these next two weeks…!
