Yesterday was an extraordinarily exciting day, as nearly two hundred staff members arrived at camp to begin our shavuah hachanah (staff week)!  After having countless conversations and discussions with every single member of our tzevet (staff) during the off-season months as we made plans for camp, it was a thrill to finally see everyone assembled.

Each edah and anaf began the week's program with a series of team-building programs.  Here is tzevet (the staff of) Shoafim, tied up in a human knot!

Then, last night, the edah staffs engaged in an epic competition.  Rabbi Gelb and I have a tradition of filming a parody video to begin that first peulat erev.  Keep your eyes peeled — I just might post that video to the blog later today…!  It was a raucous, crazy evening, and though the battle was fierce, ultimately tzevet Magshimim emerged triumphant.

As I type this, our junior staff are engaged in counselor training sessions, while our senior staff are participating in a variety of hinuch (educational) options, studying with several educators who are visiting camp for the day.

Every single person at camp right now is counting the minutes until all of our campers arrive next week!
