Tikvah celebrates a Bar-Mitzvah!

On Monday morning the Tikvah community welcomed Bennett into the world of Jewish adulthood as he became a bar-mitzvah. Bennett, a returning camper from Florida, has been working all year on the Torah blessings and various prayers from our service so that he could have his bar-mitzvah with his Tikvah family this summer. On Monday, Tikvah along with Bennett’s parents and one of his sisters, joined together on the mirpeset g’dolah (big porch) over looking the agam (lake). Bennett helped lead the service, he was presented with his tallit from his parents and he was called up to the Torah with the honor of having an aliyah. It was very special for Tikvah to be able to celebrate this Jewish life cycle event together and even more special that it took place at camp! We are very proud of him and look forward to more simchas together.
