Hanhallah 2024!

We’re thrilled to announce our incredible 2024 Hanhallah (leadership team)!

Rosh Kochavim (current 2nd & 3rd graders): Emma Gelb — Hi everyone! My name is Emma Gelb, and I couldn’t be more excited to be back as Rosh Kochavim for the fourth summer in a row (and 19th kayitz at camp)! A bit about me: during the year, I work for camp on our year-round team, doing recruitment, engagement, and organizing lots of fun events in the Boston area! In my free time I love to craft, play music, do photography, and bake! I am also a massive Taylor Swift fan! Kochavim is truly the best edah at camp, and we’re going to have so much fun together! I cannot wait to share the kayitz with all of you! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Ilanot (current 4th graders): Eytan Layman (kicking off the summer) and Devasha Solomon — Hey Ilanot! My name is Eytan Layman, and I am super excited to be your Rosh Edah this kayitz! This will be my fourteenth summer at camp and second as a rosh edah. I am currently the Education Program Administrator for the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue. In my free time I like walking through Central Park, reading lots of fantasy books, and spending time with friends. I can’t wait to be back at camp with you to see all the funny, silly things that your madrichim (counselors) and I plan for peulat erev (evening activities) or your peulot tzrif (bunk activities)! Get ready for one of the greatest crossover events in the history of camp, between me and Devasha! L’hitraot b’Palmer!! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Hey, Ilanot!! My name is Devasha Solomon (she/her), and I am so excited to be your rosh edah this kayitz (summer)! I’ll be joining you starting the third week of first session, as part of the greatest crossover event in camp history with Eytan! It will be my 12th year in camp and my second as a Rosh Edah. In May 2023, I graduated from Bryn Mawr College, and since then I’ve been helping teaching English in an elementary school in Jerusalem. My favorite things to do are read books and act in plays. I can’t wait to sing with you at our medurah (campfire), dance with you during rikud (dance), and make lots of awesome memories! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Shoafim (current 6th graders): Tova Gelb — Hi everyone! My name is Tova Gelb and I am beyond excited to be Rosh Shoafim this summer! This will be my seventeenth kayitz (summer) at camp. When I am not at Ramah, I play basketball at Vassar College while studying on the pre-med track. I love playing sports, singing and dancing, playing games, being goofy, and just having fun! Shoafim is the best edah at camp, and I cannot wait to have the best kayitz together! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Amitzim (program for campers with disabilities): Eliana Bazer — Hey hey Amitzim!! My name is Eliana Bazer (she/her), but a lot of people around camp call me Ellie! I am so excited to be back as Rosh Amitzim for kayitz (summer) 2024!! This will be my fifteenth summer at Camp Ramah New England and my fifth one with Tikvah! After camp, I will be moving to Minnesota to attend the Mayo Clinic to get my doctorate of physical therapy. I can’t wait to be back at Ramah to swim in the agam (lake), do lots of singing and dancing, have the Tikvah Block Party, and most importantly see all of you! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Magshimim (current 7th graders): Dalia Levy — Hey hey Magshimim! My name is Dalia Levy (she/her), and I feel beyond lucky that I get to be your Rosh Edah this summer! This will be my 18th summer at camp. With that said, being a madricha (counselor) in Magshimim (kayitz 2022) has been by far one of my favorite camp experiences ever. After this summer I will be entering my 4th and final year of nursing school at Northeastern University. Until camp, I will be working at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program as a wound care technician. In my free time I love to bake (specifically challah) and go on runs all around the city to explore. I can’t wait to meet this great edah and get to experience the excitement of the first year of Tzad Bet (B-Side) together!

Rosh Bogrim (current 8th graders): Alyssa Leventhal — Hi! My name is Alyssa Leventhal, and I’m SO excited to be Rosh Bogrim this kayitz (summer)! I am currently a senior at the University of Maryland, majoring in Special Education and minoring in Human Development. After this kayitz, I will be teaching elementary school in Maryland and working towards my masters degree in Special Education at the University of Maryland. I was in Nivonim in 2018, and this will be my thirteenth kayitz at camp! In my free time I love hanging out with my friends, working out, and cooking. I was Rosh Magshimim last kayitz and can’t wait for another great kayitz with this edah, filled with so much ruach (spirit/energy). I already know we are going to have the best kayitz ever! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Machon (current 9th graders): Jessie Lehman — Hey Machon!! My name is Jessie Lehman and I’m so thrilled to be Rosh Machon this kayitz! This will be my thirteenth kayitz at camp, and my third time in Machon (Machon ‘16, Tzevet Machon ‘21). I graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in Sociology and Policy last May, worked in DC in the fall, and have been living and working in Sydney, Australia since January! While my travels have been amazing, I can’t wait to return home and feel the camp energy with you all. Let’s have the best kayitz ever, Machon 2024! L’hitraot b’Palmer! (See you soon, in Palmer!)

Rosh Nivonim (current 10th graders): Josh Strauss — Hi! My name is Josh Strauss and I am absolutely stoked to be Rosh Nivonim this kayitz! My first kayitz at Machaneh Ramah was way back in 2009, and I was in Nivonim in 2015. I was a madrich (counselor) in many different edot from 2017-2021 and this is going be my third kayitz as a Rosh Edah. A little more about me: I am graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with my Masters in Social Work this May, looking to practice clinical social work. I have a slight obsession with Ultimate Frisbee (see you at camper-staff ultimate!), and I also enjoy playing the saxophone and cooking soup (especially chicken soup!). I am passionate about singing in the shower, but at camp, I get to take my mediocre singing talents to the medurah (campfire). I cannot wait to get to know all of you and create that magical Nivonim experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. L’hitraot b’Palmer!!! (See you soon, in Palmer!)
