Omanut Calendars!

Rotem Karmin Yochanan, Rosh Omanut (the head of our arts program), shares this update:

This week in Omanut, we created a Hebrew and Gregorian calendars that the kids designed themselves!

It was a very meaningful activity. First, the chanichim learned the names of the Hebrew months, the Jewish holidays in each month, and the corresponding Gregorian months.

Then, they worked together as a group to design the calendar.  As you can see, we used wheels to create a calendar that could track both the Hebrew and Gregorian months.

It was really nice to see how the kids collaborated, and how through this omanut (art) activity, they also learned about the Hebrew months and how the calendar works!  It was also wonderful having the Nivonim MiNis (CITs) with us to help, as well!

We laminated each calendar so they’ll last, and now we’ll hang them up around camp!
