Outdoor Cooking Adventures!
Veteran tzevet-member Andy Katz reports from our Pinat Teva:
Week 2 of Outdoor Cooking was packed with some awesome campfire favorites: we cooked four-bean vegetarian chili, shakshuka, wood-fired pizza, chickpea and potato curry with rice, and we’ll wrap things up with crepes.
The big highlight was firing up our newly rebuilt brick pizza oven in almost 100° heat, getting it over 750°F, and cranking out pizzas in about two minutes each!
Our curry session had its own twist when a quick rainstorm rolled through and interrupted things for a bit.
In each Outdoor Cooking perek (period), we encourage our chanichim (campers) to jump right in — prepping, cooking, eating, and cleaning.
Now that Outdoor Cooking is part of the rotating tzrif peulot (bunk activities), everyone gets a chance to try it out a few times over the summer.
It’s also been really great getting to spend the first two weeks with Rabbi Corey Helfand—this is our third summer running Outdoor Cooking together!
