Kishroniyah Modern Dance 2025

In our Lyrical & Contemporary Dance Kishroniyah, participants had a chance to explore dance styles that combine components of ballet and jazz, allowing for the dancer to express emotion through movement.

In this workshop, our Kishroniyah dance specialist Emma Weissfeld guided the dancers through warm-ups, and then taught them dance skills such as leaps and turns.  The program built towards the participants developing a lyrical dance performance.  Take a look at the clip above to see a snippet of their beautiful dancing!

Kishroniyah is one of our centerpiece programs for our Tzad Bet (B-Side) chanichim/ot (campers).  Kishroniyah comes from the Hebrew word kishron, which means skill.  For one week each summer, we invite an array of high-level specialists into camp to run intense special programs for our older campers.  Machon and Nivonim have 12 hours of Kishroniyah from Sunday-to-Wednesday, and Magshimim and Bogrim have 8 hours of Kishroniyah from Wednesday-to-Friday.

Emma Weissfeld is so excited to be teaching dance Kishroniyah for the second time! Emma is a six-time former Rosh Edah, and she was a chanicha since she was in Kochavim! Outside of camp, Emma spent four years dancing on the Virginia Tech Dance Team, where she competed at NDA and UDA Nationals in jazz, hip hop, and pom. Since graduating from college, she’s enjoyed taking classes in Boston, New York, and
