Magshimim Performing Arts Workshop
Last week we welcomed Naomi Less to camp for a few days to run a special performing arts workshop for a group of Magshimim chanichim/ot (campers)!
Naomi Less is a Brooklyn-basedsinger/songwriter, ritual leader and educator. She has been featured on musical recordings and commissions by PJ Library, Transcontinental Ruach publications, Rick Recht and Jewish World Productions, Funky Monkeys, the Cantors Assembly, Foundation for Jewish Camp, Sacred Rights Sacred Songs, URJ Crane Lake Camp and others across the Jewish community. Naomi’s specialties are interactive & educational musical performances, especially for teen and adults.
Naomi worked with a group of Magshimimers who signed up for her program (assisted by some Machon volunteers), to develop a wonderful short performance, bringing a fun modern take to the story from last week’s parshah of the Daughters of Zelophehad. In this story from Torah, these women successfully petition Moshe to change the rule and be allowed to inherit their father’s land.
The chanichim incorporated fun modern music into their short play, which they then performed for adat ha-Ilanot during their limud perek (educational period).
Their performance was fantastic!! We’re so proud of these Magshimimers! You can watch the entire performance above.
