Yom Avatiyach!

On Wednesday, Yom Avatiyach (Watermelon Day) returned to Machane Ramah!!

August 3rd is National Watermelon Day and, overseen by Assistant Director Michelle Sugarman, we went wild for watermelon here at Camp Ramah!

We served watermelon at every meal, prepared many different ways.  Personally, I particularly enjoyed the delicious cubed watermelon at Aruchat Boker (Breakfast).

Many campers and staff-members got into the avatiyach spirit by wearing clothing that was either in watermelon colors or actually had watermelons on them… there were also some watermelon costumes around and about!

In Omanut, our chanichim (campers) created beautiful avatiyach-related artwork:

And, of course, there was the fiercely-competitive avatiyach-carving competition, in which both chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff) participated.  Here are just a few of the beautiful watermelon creations:
