Family Camp Goes Virtual!
Over the past few years, we have significantly grown our annual Family Camp program over Memorial Day Weekend through increased partnership and young alumni engagement. Unfortunately, due to continued Coronavirus restrictions, this year we were unable to gather together in Palmer. While we were sad to not be in person, our Family Camp community still marked Memorial Day as a special Ramah-themed weekend! In short, our Virtual Family Camp was an awesome program filled with Ramah ruach (spirit)!
Highlights of Virtual Family Camp included pre and post Shabbat experiences, specialized sports, arts, and cooking clinics, and a variety of family-centered competitions. Through Family Feud, Kahoot trivia, and our very first Virtual Color War, families were able to join together in friendly Ramah-style competition from the comfort of their homes. While the Mittelman Family won our Virtual Color War with potentially the best family cheer and song the judges had seen to date, all of our families had a phenomenal time. Kol HaKavod to everyone who participated – you are all winners at Machane Ramah!
At night our parents and young alumni enjoyed an engaging shiur (lesson) on Judaism & Resilience by Rabbi Jill Levy, Director of our Ramah DC Day Camp. The teaching was followed by an online Trivia Night where parents and alumni put their knowledge of fun facts, movie quotes, and popular culture to the test. A big Todah Rabbah to our Family Camp staff who volunteered their time to help bring the joy of Ramah to the homes of so many of our Ramah families this past weekend. We are eagerly awaiting our return to Palmer for Family Camp 2021. We hope you and your family will join us next Memorial Day Weekend for a weekend full of Ramah programming for all ages.
