Take Your Camper to Camp Day: NivoEats Café, Team Building & More!
Wednesday, July 28, was the first full day of Machzor Sheinei (Second Session). We kicked it off with a “Take Your Camper to Camp” day. Each madrich (counselor) accompanied their chanichim (campers) to each peula (activity), and participated alongside their chanichim. This is a great way to enhance the transition into the machaneh (camp) for each chanich; it also builds great connections among the chanichim in a tzrif (bunk), and between the chanichim and madrichim. And there was an extraordinary special program as well: a visit to NivoEats, the entertainment-filled café run by Nivonim, our oldest chanichim.
Chanichim and madrichim went together to fun-filled peulot around camp – from boating to Omanut (arts and crafts) to visiting the Pinat Teva (nature corner, including our own lush garden.
Chanichim went with their tzrifim to shira (singing), outdoor cooking, and dozens of other peulot around camp.
There were also activities specifically designed to build camaraderie and communication within the tzrif and edah (age group), such as the challenge that required members of each Ilanot tzrif to work together to build Ilanot-themed assemblages, and fish-themed field games.
The NivoEats Café was a great way to spend an hour during Take Your Camper to Camp Day! The Nivonimers, who serve as Madrichim in Training (MITs) with the younger chanichim, used the café to jump-start their connections to the newly arrived chanichim. The Nivonimers led conversations for each tzrif and ran a reverse talent show, freeze dances, and many other activities. There were also fun drinks and snacks, including an Oreo Tasting. The café also provided a great setting for Machon and Kochavim to meet their MachAch buddies. (Machon chanichim, rising 10th graders, serve as mentors to our younger chanichim.)
The sun was shining, the chanichim were smiling – it was a full day of fun and camaraderie at Machane Ramah!
